How to Add Your Own Music to a Tribute Video

Sometimes the song that says the most is a personal one — their favourite, or a piece that means everything to your family. Your tribute is delivered with beautiful, cleared music, and we also give you a music-free copy so you can add your own song to your personal keepsake. Here is how.
Start with the music-free copy
On your tribute’s page you will find two downloads: the finished tribute, and a "music-free copy". Download the music-free copy — it has the same beautiful visuals with no music, so there is nothing to remove before you add your own song.
Have your song ready too — the audio file, or the track saved in the app you plan to use.
On an iPhone or iPad (iMovie)
- Open iMovie and start a new Movie project, then add the music-free video.
- Tap the video on the timeline, then tap the audio button and add your song.
- Drag the song so it starts where you want, and trim it to match the length of the video.
- Tap Done, then Share, and save the finished video to your phone.
On Android or any phone (CapCut)
- Install the free CapCut app and start a new project with the music-free video.
- Tap Audio, then Sounds, and add your song (from your device or the app’s library).
- Trim the song to fit, then tap the export button to save the finished video.
On a computer (Clipchamp or iMovie)
On Windows, Clipchamp is free and already installed on most PCs; on a Mac, iMovie works the same way. Add the music-free video to the timeline, add your song beneath it, trim the song to match, and export the finished video.
A couple of gentle notes
The photo transitions in your tribute are timed to the original music, so a new song will not line up with them exactly — for most families, having the right song matters far more than perfect timing, but it is worth knowing.
Adding your own music is for your personal, family keepsake. You are responsible for any song you add, so use music you have the right to use for a private, personal video.
